JULY 19-21,2020
Scouts join us for 3 days for a Troop 49 style mini summer camp! Swartswood is
NJ’s first state park and was established in 1915. It was created to ensure that
NJ’s third largest freshwater lake remained unspoiled. The lake is 3 miles long
and 1 mile wide. The 2 lakes in the park are the remnants of the retreat glaciers
from the Wisconsin glaciation around 20,000 years ago. It has hiking, boating
and for our Fishermen in the troop the lake is stocked with brown, rainbow and
brook trout. There is catfish, bass and several other types found in the lake.
The plan for the three days is to spend part of the day on merit badge classes or
rank advancement and to take advantage of the park. A troop hike, canoeing,
sports and hopefully the swimming area will be open.

Covid Guidelines:
We ask that scouts monitor their temp 2 weeks before the trip.
The troop has reserved 4 campsites and there is also plenty of open areas for our
program. Sharing of tents will be kept to siblings and parents. Each scout will
need a form of face covering. There are several gator style face coverings that
also have spf and when wet stay cold. Perhaps this style is less likely to get lost
since it should stay on your scout. A temp check will be performed each day.
The troop will have plenty of hand sanitizer, a hand washing station, and extra
masks. Simon Fishman and I will continue to monitor cdc recommendations for
camping and will provide more specific guidelines.\
